Head of a Man
It is always exciting when a painting returns to the Gallery
from the conservator’s studio, a recent one being Isaac Fuller’s
Head of a Man, which left the Gallery
last year to be cleaned. Now thought to be a self portrait by the
important seventeenth-century Royalist artist, Adoption has helped
to reveal the quality of this striking work and has restored the
pigment deterioration in the sky behind the young man.
