About the Education Department
The award winning Education Department communicates the
understanding and enjoyment of fine art. Vibrant education
programmes reach the widest possible audiences, crossing the
boundaries of age, social background and ability. An exceptional
quality of experience is the cornerstone of the Education
Programme.
“The Education Programme at the world-renowned Dulwich
Picture Gallery is a perfect embodiment of how access and
excellence in the arts can go hand in hand and has set the standard
for others to follow. This is about opening up the best things in
life to as many people as possible”
The Rt Hon. Tessa Jowell MP

The Sackler Centre for Arts Education
The Sackler Centre for Arts Education opened in May 2000 as the
keystone to an ambitious initiative to improve the accessibility
and facilities at Dulwich Picture Gallery. The Centre enables the
Education Department to provide a remarkable range of both
innovative and traditional creative activities to an ever growing
number of people. The range of practical programmes on offer at DPG
is unequalled anywhere in the UK and with thanks to the
establishment of the SCAE, the Gallery continues to reach new
audiences.
