Sunset Landscape with a Shepherd and his Flock

DPG132 was catalogued as Rubens until 1880 and then as a copy after Rubens until Jaff‚ proposed the attribution to Van Dyck, suggesting a date early during the artist's stay in Italy. The shepherd and flock derive from an anonymous engraving after Titian. The cows seem to be taken from a drawing at Chatsworth, which has been attributed to Rubens but which Jaff‚ gives to Van Dyck.
