Apollo and Marsyas

Apollo prepares to flay the satyr Marsyas, who has challenged him unsuccessfully in a musical contest (Ovid, 'Metamorphoses' VI). The attribution to Lauri has been retained since 1813. A copy or version is in the Mus‚e Magnin, Dijon.
