Key stages 3 to 5
Free talks and creative sessions for key stages 3 – 5
Bring your secondary school group for an expert session in the Gallery or Art Studio. Working with professional artists and experienced teachers, students have an opportunity to deepen their understanding of visual art or use art as a springboard to investigate other subject areas such as RE in a session tailored to their needs.
All sessions are free of charge. Programmes can be adapted for SEN groups.
Choose a theme by genre or link to a specific area of coursework. Students are welcome to sketch from the collection using their own sketchbooks and pencils, or materials can be provided.
Students will work from a nude or clothed model and have an opportunity to study works in the Permanent Collection. This is the ideal day out for students seeking to expand their portfolio and draw inspiration from the Masters.
Examine the design and context of Sir John Soane’s unique gallery building. Tours are led by Gallery Guides and focus on the history, design, materials and visual context of the first public art gallery in England.
Tour and studio sessions
Spend a day at the Gallery exploring our current temporary exhibition. Tour the exhibition in small discussion groups with our trained Gallery Guides; then experiment with materials, styles and techniques inspired by the works in the exhibition.
We offer gallery and studio sessions for Home Educated groups. All sessions can be adapted to the ages, learning spectrum and curriculum of home school groups. Please discuss when booking. Minimum of 15 young people required.
Special Education Needs
We welcome groups with special educational needs for interactive and sensory-based sessions in both the Gallery and art studio. Please discuss your interests and requirements when making a booking so that we can best accommodate the needs of your group.
