Intergenerational work brings joy to isolated older people being able to mix with youth in a creative setting, but also overcomes fears and preconceptions that young and older people hold or impress upon each other. Our intergenerational projects address the stigma and isolation that older people sometimes face segregated from the rest of the community. Spanning generations, these projects have inspired a more integrated community and has led to increased interaction and confidence for all ages.
Visual to Vocal
A fun and stimulating project that combines art and singing aimed to benefit those with early to mid-stage dementia. This collaborative project with English Touring Opera encourages those involved and their carers to compose a song cycle over 8 weeks inspired by the Gallery's Old Master paintings.
We're looking for participants for our next Visual to Vocal programme. Do you have a family member, friend or know someone living with dementia that might benefit from this programme? Now in its fifth year, it will run from 21st March to 25th June. To find out more and book a free place, please contact Nicki Hatton at firstname.lastname@example.org or 020 8299 8703.
