Get Involved!
The Friends of Dulwich Picture
Gallery are a group who come together regularly for events and
activities. All our activities are run by volunteers.
We are always pleased to hear from people
who’d like to get involved with what we do. If you have a spare
hour every so often, perhaps you’d like to help. Here are just some
of the areas where we are looking for help at the moment:
Events and Activities
You could help with the set up, sell tickets or pour drinks at
the bar. It’s a great way to meet people.
Or maybe you’d like to contribute to the events programme itself
– organise something new. We would particularly welcome organisers
of family and children’s events and the GalleryFilm team is looking for people interested
in setting up a teenage film club. How can we use the garden
more?
Whatever your skills and interests, we are
always pleased to hear from new people who have ideas of what they
would like to see happening at the Gallery and who would like to
volunteer their help.

Friends’ Desk
New volunteers are always welcome to help run the Friends' Desk
in the Gallery. It usually involves a regular monthly session and
is an enjoyable way to provide essential support for the
Gallery.
If you are interested in helping with the Friends Desk, please
contact Dianne Lim on 0208 8693 6423.
Get fit with the Friends
If you enjoy walking around our local area, perhaps you could
help with some of our deliveries?
We urgently need helpers to distribute leaflets publicising
Friends' events to shops, schools, libraries, restaurants and
houses in the area. Just an hour or two every few weeks is all that
is needed.
We also distribute half of our regular
mailings (three a year) by hand to help save on costs. We can
always use more volunteers to help us deliver these – why not bring
the dog or a friend and have a good walk at the same time as
helping the Friends?
Behind the scenes
Three times a year we spend a morning at the Gallery
stuffing envelopes for our mailing. We are always
happy to have new people come and join us – everyone pitches in and
has a good time as we prepare the many envelopes for dispatch
around the village, the country and even the world!
We would also be pleased to hear from anyone
who could help with our events telephone booking
line. From our office in the Gallery, volunteers take
messages from Friends, use the credit card machine and post out
tickets to members. It’s quite straightforward, but all training is
provided if you’ve not worked in an office for a while.
Dulwich OnView, the Friend's Online Magazine
Dulwich OnView is a celebration of Dulwich Picture Gallery, the
Friends and the local community. We welcome
contributors – writers, photographers, film makers, illustrators,
anyone with ideas. Are you interested in people and their
stories? Are you passionate about the arts, music and cultural
events at the Gallery and in the local area?

In View the Friend's Magazine
This full-colour, 24-page magazine is
published three times a year. It features the exhibitions and
displays at the Gallery. It also highlights the activities of the
education department.
In View focuses on Friends’ activities and events from jazz in the Gallery grounds to talks by
well-known people, and includes lively lectures on a very wide
range of topics, and the screenings of the film club.
Words: If you fancy writing something about a Friends’ event you
enjoyed or a Gallery picture that caught your eye, please contact
the editor, Peter Belchamber (pjbelchamber@googlemail.com).
Images: Peter would also really welcome
eye-catching, high-resolution images of Gallery events from
creative photographers who would like to see their work published
(and credited) in In View.
