Book Now

Untitled -1 (1)

Even before the “selfie” pandemic and right down to the present day, with exponents such as Gilbert & George and Tracy Emin, self portraiture has become a key genre for many artists specialising in it. James Hall explains the historical shift from the rare to the ubiquitous.

There will be an opportunity to buy signed copies of Hall’s The Self-Portrait: A Cultural History from 11.30am.

James Hall is an Art historian and critic.

This lecture is part of The Art of the Portrait: Insight Lecture Series.
