BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Neasden Temple)

Built using only traditional methods and materials, the Shri Swaminarayan Temple is Britain’s first authentic Hindu temple, and the largest outside India. It was instigated by a 92-year-old Indian holy man, and is made of 2,828 tonnes of Bulgarian limestone and 2,000 tonnes of Italian Carrara marble, all of which was first shipped to India to be hand carved by a team of 1,526 sculptors. The temple cost £12 million to build, and was funded entirely by the Hindu community.
