Modern Chinese Art

Michael Sullivan is a world authority on 20th century Chinese painting from the1940s. Most artists suffered in the later purges but today new freedoms give contemporary art an edge and vitality. Michael traces the strands of traditional, modern and western influences which have created modern Chinese art today.
Professor Michael Sullivan is Emeritus Fellow at St Catherine’s College, Oxford.
