Southwark Mayor sits for Gallery portrait for 'My London' project

On Sunday 25 January, the Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Sunil Chopra joined young people from the community organisation Blackfriars Settlement for a special photography session at the Gallery. Against the backdrop of the Gallery's permanent collection the young people took portraits of the Mayor with guidance from renowned portrait photographer Sal Idriss.

The session was the culmination of a year long project 'My London' which has seen young people working intensively with Idriss to take portraits of their family, friends, Gallery staff and visitors, as well as the wonderful characters they have encountered on their journeys around London.

An exhibition of the portraits will run from Sunday 1st February until 8th February in the Gallery’s Linbury Room.
