John Lovelace, 3rd Baron Lovelace

John Lovelace (c.1642-93) was MP for Berkshire between 1661 and 1670. He succeeded as 3rd Baron Lovelace of Hurley in 1670. An ardent Whig, he was arrested following the discovery of the Rye House Plot in 1683. He also played a prominent part in the Revolution of 1688. DPG373 probably dates from the early 1660s - around the time of his coming of age, his marriage in 1662 to Martha Pye (1642-c.1704) and his election to Parliament.
