Joseph Allen, MD (1713-96): travelled round the world with Lord Anson; Warden of Dulwich College 1745-6, Master 1746-75. DPG44O was commissioned following a resolution of the Corporation of Dulwich College of 4 September 1775. Sittings are recorded in October-November 1778. The statue of ’sculapius refers to Allen's medical training.
