Positioned at the entrance to the Sculpture Garden, My Little Marini playfully reinterprets Marino Marini’s The Angel of the City, 1948. While Marini’s work overlooks the Grand Canal in Venice with assertive masculinity, Ford’s smaller, reimagined figure offers a more intimate and childlike perspective, which is reinforced by the title’s wordplay on the My Little Pony franchise. To see another view of Venice, step into the Gallery and find Canaletto’s Bucintoro at the Molo on Ascension Day, 1760, DPG599.
