Enjoy your final day of freedom with a Great Outdoors-themed family day! Inspired by our David Milne exhibition, take part in workshops exploring how to make artwork in the wild.
This event will take place whatever the weather - if it rains we'll be celebrating the Great Outdoors inside the Gallery!
Transforming Tents: 10am-5pm
Can you believe that David Milne lived in a tent in the wilderness to make his paintings? Come together to decorate our tents in the Gallery grounds, and turn them into comfortable homes. You might end up wanting to live in one!
Take a Mindful Moment: 10am-5pm
Drop-in to our mindful space at any time during the day. Stay for as short or as long as a time as you like, and relax with support from local yogi Michele Misgalla.
Pattern Hunt: 10am-5pm
Join Wild Life Drawing for a drop-in drawing session, and create patterns inspired by nature. You can collect a clipboard to roam around the grounds with or stay to work from a still life and get some top tips about how to draw from nature.
Make a Memento: 11am-5pm
Remember your day in nature by hand-decorating a wooden badge. Taking inspiration from Milne’s paintings, create your own pattern and paint it on to your badge – we hope to see you wearing them with pride!
What is your favourite kind of tree? Using recyclable materials, make your favourite tree and add it to a fantastical forest that will grow throughout the day.
Timed (sign up on the day):
Tales from Canada: 11-11.45am, 12-12.45pm, 2.30-3.15pm, & 3.30-4.15pm
Listen to Canadian folktales about the adventures of pioneers, animals, and mystical creatures in the wild Canadian landscape.
