Ten & Up Studio: Expressing Places

Book Now

Join artist Jo Veevers to explore how to describe your feelings, towards a place or a city you are familiar with, through abstract printmaking using collagraph printing and chin-colle.

You’ll get to explore the Helen Frankenthaler: Radical Beauty exhibition, before developing your own abstract prints. During the workshop, taking inspiration from Frankenthaler’s ‘no rules’ attitude to making art based on her memories of places, you'll experiment with techniques and discover how to create art inspired by places or that connects to places that have a strong identity.

You will use a range of papers and printing inks and will use the etching press during the process, layering materials and colour. At the end, you will take home a series of experimental prints inspired by places you love!

These activities are for children only, aged 10-15 years.
No experience is needed, just come along and join in!

Ten & Up Studio! encourages children aged 10 and over to learn about the different processes that artists might use in their studios, giving an insight into what it means to be an artist today. Each artist who works with the Ten & Up Studio! brings a theme, materials and ideas that reflects their own studio practice, getting new inspiration from the Gallery’s key exhibitions.
