Melville Farr, respected barrister about to become a QC, has a homosexual past. Guilt-ridden over the suicide of a former lover, jailed for stealing, Farr decides to investigate. He uncovers numerous homosexual victims also being
blackmailed, but agrees to represent them at the expense of his very promising career.
