This talk will discuss the Hokusai exhibition at the British Museum, with focus on the “great wave” which made Katsushika Hokusai one of the best loved artists in the world.  Dr Lockyer will explore how this iconic work was only the beginning of an extraordinary outpouring of artistic activity in the last twenty years of Hokusai’s life.

Dr Angus Lockyer, School of African and Oriental Studies
