InSight Lecture Series: Sargent's Watercolours in Context

Book now

Sargent is perhaps better known for his oil paintings and portrait commissions, but he dedicated much of his career to mastering watercolour. This series examines what might have attracted him to this particular medium; looks at watercolours by Turner, a forerunner of Sargent; considers his American contemporaries; and concludes with a review of the standing of watercolours in the London art scene of his period.
