An Ox

This charming ox in a light-filled landscape is deceptive. He looks as if he were painted in Holland in the 17th century, but in fact, Ommegank was a Flemish artist who lived well into the 19th century. He was highly successful, basing his style in this case on the famous Dutch animal painter, Paulus Potter.
