Cleopatra

DPG160 seems to be a copy of a picture currently in the collection of Richard F. Spear, which is close in style to Cagnacci. It depicts the scene of Cleopatra's tragic death: traditionally, Cleopatra is believed to have killed herself by inducing a snake (in some sources, an Egyptian cobra) to bite her chest.
