Portrait of a Lady

One of Cartwright's finest portraits, this painting was called in 1813 Queen Elizabeth by Zuccera, but the Qn Elizabeth inscription was evidently added in the eighteenth century. The pose is matched, in reverse, by the Gheeraerts portrait of Lady Scudamore dated 1615 in the National Gallery (64).
