Painting the Ethereal
Join artist Violeta Bravo on this transportive one-day workshop exploring ideas of otherworldliness through painting and printmaking. Experiment with monoprint, pastel and watercolour techniques, whilst also gaining insights into the symbolic treatment of other worlds and the spatial organisation of the elements in paintings, key aspects in both Čiurlionis and Violeta’s practice.
To honour Čiurlionis’ celebrated composition of both painting and music, this workshop will be accompanied by a bespoke soundscape combining the artist’s original music, sounds from nature and Violeta’s piano compositions, helping to create a reflective and inviting atmosphere.
Violeta Bravo is a visual artist working across drawing, painting, installation, soundscape and printmaking and whose work explores the complexity of humankind's relationship with our ecosystems. She has been awarded residencies, grants and exhibitions in the UK, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, Holland, France, Luxembourg and Portugal.
Entry to M.K. Čiurlionis: Between Worlds exhibition is also included in the ticket price, from 3.30 - 4.30pm, allowing you to become inspired by M.K. Čiurlionis’ groundbreaking pieces.
