Anaiis performance in the Chapel
Musician and artist anaiis will perform an acoustic rendition of her album anaiis & Grupo Cosmo - 2024 accompanied by a string quartet in the Chapel.
This seven-track record intricately weaves together diverse cultural and musical influences, exploring profound themes such as Black identity, motherhood, birth, and the natural world.
anaiis describes the album as "a sonic emergence of the person I was becoming at this moment in my life" reflecting her personal growth and transformation. Collaborations with Brazilian artists Sessa and Luedji Luna deepen the album's cross-cultural dimension, merging elements of Brazilian musical traditions with her own creative vision to create a rich, multi-layered sound.
French-Senegalese artist anaiis grew up between continents, moving from Toulouse to Dublin and Dakar before settling in Oakland, California. She studied at Tisch School of Arts in New York before relocating to London to pursue her music career.
Her work is self-reflective and created in pursuit of a collective healing.
Anaiis In Conversation with Rachel Jones
Before the performance, anaiis will be in conversation with her friend and collaborator Rachel Jones. Don't miss this rare opportunity to see these artists discuss their distinctive approaches to creating.
