Family Festival - Let Sound Inspire You

Explore colour and sound as a family with workshops, sound installations and more as we invite you to experiment with sound, visual art and wellbeing inspired by the work of Lithuania’s best loved artist, M.K. Čiurlionis.

Sonic Collage for Families with InnerSwell
11.30 – 15.30pm – Linbury Room (drop -In) 

Join InnerSwell’s drop-in workshops exploring synaesthesia, sound recordings, and playing with sounds. Taking inspiration from Ciurlionis’ works, families will experiment and explore and question what does a sound look like? What does a painting sound like? Can we collect the sounds that surround us? And can we remember forgotten sounds?

 

Baby Blue (6 months – 3years)
11am–4pm, Gallery 10 (drop in)

Got a very little one with you? Come and explore the colour blue in this quiet, sensory space. Explore different objects, look at our paintings, and relax.

 

Nature Forms
11.30am-12.15pm, 12.30-1.15pm, 2.15pm, –3pm and 3.15pm – 4pm. Art Room

Explore the grounds and observe and sketch different shapes from nature; tree branches, leaves and seeds before going back into the art studio to create and make shapes into different coloured cut outs. Families can add their art works to a collective mural which will continue to grow throughout the day.

 

Four Seasons
11am–4pm, Gallery 4 (drop in)

Using wool, lace and a variety of fabrics stitch, knit and sew your own badges inspired by the four seasons and the planets natural cycles in this  fun and experimental workshop.

 

Let Sound Inspire You
11.30am–15.30pm Gallery 2 (drop in)

In this poetry workshop we will be taking inspiration from the compositions of Čiurlionis and different music genres to gather ideas for new approaches to create new poems, playing with structure, sound, and rhythm to tell stories about the composition of our natural surroundings, and places we love.

 

Collage Crowns
11am–4pm, Gallery 4 (drop in)

Come and create your very own natural crown taking inspiration from the natural world and the fairy tales Čiurlionis creates in his paintings.

 

Tickets include entry into our M.K. Čiurlionis: Between Worlds exhibition but timeslots for the exhibition must be booked in advance. Please email enquiries@dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk once you have booked your ticket to the Family Festival, providing your ticket number and your ideal times to see the exhibition.
