Sophy Hollington & David Keenan in Conversation: Folklore, Tarot and Myth
Artist Sophy Hollington and author David Keenan will reveal the creative process behind their collaborative project, Autonomic Tarot. The pair have combined forces to create a 30-card linocut tarot deck and instruction booklet, that retains an umbilical cord to the card’s ancient roots, yet reimagines it as a glam-punk portal into the Now. The deck accompanies (and was born from) Keenan’s experimental novella To Run Wild In It.
Sophy Hollington is an illustrator and artist living in Brighton, UK.
Not being one to cut corners, most of her work takes the form of relief prints, created using the lengthy process of lino-cutting. Her personal work tackles themes from meteoric folklore to alchemical symbolism and she’s interested in wrangling the most arcane ideas to make them totally tangible. Commercial clients include The New York Times, Nike, It's Nice That, and Penguin.
David Keenan is the multi-award winning author of six critically-acclaimed novels, including the cult classic This Is Memorial Device. A lifelong student of tarot, magic and spirituality, he lives in Glasgow, Scotland.
